Matthew Healy from the 1975 band used to be a director at Dirty Hit Limited, a company that runs an independent British record label. However, he is no longer part of this role – he was fired on April 4th, 2023. Neither the 1975 nor anybody from Dirty Hit Limited have talked about this situation but it looks like it was an administrative decision.
In 2010, three people Jamie Oborne, Ugo Ehiogu, and Brian Smith created the company Dirty Hit Limited. In 2017, Ugo and Brian left the company but Brian came back as a director later that year. The label’s Ed Blow also became a director in 2018.
The 1975, led by Mathew Healy, has released all their songs through the label named ‘Dirt Hit’. Mathew has also collaborated with artists like Beabadoobee, No Rome, Blackstarkids and the Japanese House. In addition to that, artist Rina Sawayama covered The 1975’s “Love It If We Made It” for an album called Sawayama which was released via Dirty Hit.
