Taylor Swift has unveiled Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), a reimagined rendition of her third studio album, Speak Now. In addition to the original 16 tracks from the 2010 release, this new edition includes “From the Vault” songs featuring Fall Out Boy and Paramore’s Hayley Williams. For Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), Swift collaborates once again with Aaron Dessner, co-producing several “From the Vault” tracks: “Electric Touch (feat. Fall Out Boy),” “When Emma Falls in Love,” and “Foolish One.” Meanwhile, Jack Antonoff joins as co-producer for the songs “Castles Crumbling (feat. Hayley Williams),” “I Can See You,” and “Timeless,” alongside Swift. The rest of the album was co-produced by Swift and Christopher Rowe.
Upon the album’s midnight release, Swift shared her reflections on Instagram about the significance of Speak Now. She expressed, “It’s an album I wrote entirely by myself, encapsulating the whims, fantasies, heartaches, dramas, and tragedies I experienced as a young woman between the ages of 18 and 20.” Swift further revealed her meticulousness in crafting the tracklist and the challenging decisions she had to make, leaving behind some songs she still holds great pride in. As a result, the album now includes six “From the Vault” tracks. Swift recorded this album at the age of 32, while still undergoing personal growth, which stirred up nostalgic feelings and gratitude. She thanked her fans, stating, “Thank you a million times for the memories that help us overcome difficult times.”
Back in 2019, Swift announced her intention to re-record her first six albums, starting from her self-titled debut in 2006 and continuing through Reputation in 2017, in order to regain control of her masters. Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) follows the releases of Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) as her third fully re-recorded album.
