Nick Cave and Debbie Harry have released their interpretation of “On the Other Side,” the premier single from the latest collection titled The Task Has Overwhelmed Us. This is the fourth installment in the Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project series, a tribute to the late creative force behind the Gun Club by offering fresh renditions of his songs. Contributing to the track alongside Cave and Harry are Cypress Grove, Warren Ellis, and Guido Benigni. The song is available for listening below.

This cover marks the fourth collaborative piece between Cave and Harry for this series. Their previous work includes “Free to Walk” from 2009’s We Are Only Riders, “The Breaking Hands” included in 2012’s The Journey Is Long, and “Into the Fire” from 2014’s Axels and Sockets.

Cave, reflecting on Pierce in a conversation with Gene Temesy, said, “He genuinely cared about other people. He was very authentic, and I held him in high regard. He was an extraordinary songwriter.”
