A new collection of music by Arthur Russell will soon be released. This album, titled Picture of Bunny Rabbit, comes out on June 23rd and contains nine unreleased songs from the past. You can give the first song a listen now! The track, called “The Boy With A Smile” was recorded around 1985 or 1986 at Battery Sound in New York City then further edited back at his home in the East Village neighborhood. It used to exist as a live recording before being added to this new release.
The album ‘Picture of Bunny Rabbit’ was created using recordings found on two special pieces of vinyl known as ‘test pressings’, which were given to the artist by his mother and sister. The title track was a special tribute song dedicated to one of his friend’s pet rabbit!
Russell was a musician who died in 1992, but his music still lives on! Many albums have been released since then honoring him and the latest one, Iowa Dream, has some never-heard-before songs like “Fuzzbuster #1002” and “Picture of Bunny Rabbit”. It’s become really popular now.
