Sufjan Stevens has revealed his upcoming album titled “Javelin,” set to be released on October 6 through Asthmatic Kitty. The album’s debut single, “So You Are Tired,” has been shared ahead of the release. This album marks a return to the singer-songwriter style for Stevens and is his first conventional solo LP since “The Ascension” in 2020, resembling his earlier work “Carrie & Lowell.” Collaborating with friends including Adrienne Maree Brown, Hannah Cohen, Pauline Delassus, Megan Lui, and Nedelle Torrisi, as well as Bryce Dessner of The National who contributed guitar to “Shit Talk,” Stevens created this new record.
Complementing the album, Stevens has also crafted a 48-page compilation of art and essays, containing collages and 10 written pieces. He additionally designed the cover artwork for the album. Earlier this year, Stevens released the soundtrack album “Reflections” for a ballet production. He has recently engaged in projects such as the instrumental collection “Convocations” and a collaboration with Angelo De Augustine titled “A Beginner’s Mind.” Furthermore, his album “Illinois” was transformed into a stage production.
