The much-anticipated release of Danger Mouse and Jemini’s second collaborative album, Born Again, is finally happening. The album, recorded over the course of 2003 and 2004, is set to be released on August 25 through Lex Records. The illustrious producer and New York-based rapper have released a teaser in the form of the track “Brooklyn Basquiat,” available for listening below.
Their first joint album, Ghetto Pop Life, was released in 2003 to underground acclaim. They swiftly returned to the studio to create more music together, with these sessions leading to the creation of Born Again in less than a year. However, the release was indefinitely postponed, and now, nearly two decades later, these songs will be heard for the first time.
In the previous year, Danger Mouse released a collaborative album with Black Thought titled Cheat Codes. This album features singles such as “No Gold Teeth,” “Aquamarine” with Michael Kiwanuka, “Strangers” with A$AP Rocky and Run the Jewels, and “Because” with Joey Bada$$, Russ, and Dylan Cartlidge.
